A new generation of nutritional supplements (Part 1)

23. January 2024gmchem.eu

The desire for a life in full vitality and without health problems is the wish of every person, and according to the level of our motivation, possibilities, and outlook, we try to contribute to the achievement of this goal. An important part of health care is not only regular exercise, a varied and balanced diet, sufficient sleep, and avoiding toxic substances and stress, but also filling nutritional gaps by using nutritional supplements.

It turns out that currently most of the population does not meet the recommended daily intake of basic nutrients. Their intake requirements change during each stage of life, based on biological differences, activity level and mental health. Depending on these circumstances, there is a need to supplement the necessary missing substances through nutritional supplements.

When choosing nutritional supplements, you should look for those that have research evidence of their effectiveness and safety, and that are regulated by the bodies responsible for regulating nutritional supplements. Many nutritional supplements contain high doses of certain substances that can be toxic if taken in excessive amounts.

It is great that scientists come up with new scientific findings and, thanks to them, a new generation of nutritional supplements, in which active substances use the synergies of internal mechanisms in cells and guarantee their effectiveness. These substances, which are normally found in fruits, vegetables, and plants, are a powerful arsenal for stimulating the so-called sirtuin genes. When our sirtuin genes are activated, they start the recycling process in our cells. In doing so, they remove cellular impurities and clutter that gradually accumulate and cause poor health and loss of vitality. Sirtuins help us to be in better shape, slimmer and healthier.

These are the following substances: resveratrol, quercetin, hydroxatoryzol, chlorogenic acid, apigenin, fisetin, curcumin, luteoin, sulforaphane, spermidine, etc.

Let’s talk more about some of them:

  • Resveratrol is a stilbenoid found in small amounts in the skin of grapes. Studies have shown that resveratrol can reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer and neurodegeneration.
  • Quercetin is a flavonoid, the substance that gives plants their color. Quercetin targets an important sign of aging, which is cellular senescence.
  • Fisetin is a flavonol molecule similar to those found in dark chocolate and cocoa, and is found in small amounts in some fruits and vegetables. For example, it helps brain cells to start producing proteins that are crucial for the structure and function of brain cells, it also reduces various markers of inflammation.
  • Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) is a well-known polyphenol compound found in green tea. It reduces the risk of cancer, some heart diseases, supports longevity, protects against diseases related to older age. EGCG can slow aging by restoring mitochondrial function in cells.

If you are interested in detailed information about these substances, don´t hesitate to contact us. We will be more than happy to answer your questions.

Follow our page, in the continuation of our blog we will bring you information about the remaining modern substances used in the production of nutritional supplements.
